Live Scoresheet for iPad & Landscape
Added
- Live Scoresheet Panel — On iPad in landscape, a centre panel between the two clocks shows a live two-column White/Black scoresheet that updates as each player taps. Tap any cell to edit notation inline — no popup overlay covering the clocks.
- Quick Symbol Buttons — While editing, one-tap buttons for capture (x), check (+), checkmate (#), castling (O-O), and promotion (=Q) speed up scoresheet entry.
- PGN Export & Share — A share button on the scoresheet copies the full game as standard PGN to the clipboard and opens the native share sheet, complete with player names and time control headers.
- Resizable Panel — Drag the left edge of the scoresheet to resize it between 220 and 480 points wide. Your preferred width is remembered across sessions.
- Landscape Phones — Pro Max-class phones (820+ points wide) in landscape now also get a compact scoresheet panel between the clocks.
Improved
- Free Player Sides — Free users now get Classic Light for Player 1 (white) and Classic Dark for Player 2 (black) by default — matching the natural chess convention. Both classic themes are now selectable for free.
- Post-Game Survey — Pro users see a small “Coming soon: post-game analysis” card after games to vote on whether engine-powered analysis should be the next feature.
Fixed
- Scoresheet Edit Persistence — Fixed a bug where typing a move into a scoresheet cell and tapping done could revert the cell to empty.
- Mid-Edit Race — Fast play while editing a previous move’s notation no longer drops the in-progress draft.

- Cloud Analytics Dashboard — Full-screen analytics view showing total games, win rate, streaks, time control breakdowns, average moves per game, total play time, and a recent activity heatmap.
- Sync Status UI — Cloud icon in the control bar shows pending sync count. Settings panel shows signed-in user, sync/analytics buttons, and last sync time.

Android Polish & Cross-Platform Hardening
Improved
- Android Elevation — Material elevation added to all interactive surfaces: buttons, modal containers, clock cards, and picker dialogs. Gives proper depth and shadow on Android.
- Typography Fixes — Adjusted letter-spacing on clock digits, player labels, and share codes to prevent text clipping on Android renderers.
- Safe Area Handling — Clock Replay modal now uses device-aware safe area insets instead of a hardcoded top padding, fixing layout on Android devices with notches, punch-holes, and gesture navigation bars.
- Haptic Feedback Resilience — All haptic feedback calls now wrapped in a graceful try-catch utility. Prevents crashes on Android devices or emulators that don't support haptics.
- Android Back Button — All modals properly handle the Android hardware back button via onRequestClose.
Clock Replay & Spectator View
Added
- Clock History Replay — After any game, scrub through a visual timeline to see both clocks at every move. Colour-coded markers show normal pace (green), time pressure (amber), and flagged time (red). Auto-playback at 2x, 5x, or 10x speed with play/pause controls.
- Spectator View — Share a 6-character code so spectators can watch both clocks in real-time from any web browser. The host app streams clock state via WebSocket. Clean, read-only display at
/spectate/CODE.
- Share View Button — New eye icon in the control bar generates a spectator session. Shows the code in a modal with a URL for spectators to open. Tap again to view or stop sharing.
Improved
- Post-Game Controls — Replay button (play circle icon) now appears alongside the analysis button after every game with recorded moves.
- Control Bar — Share View button added to idle state. When spectator session is active, the eye icon turns gold to indicate live sharing.
Session Mode & Head-to-Head Stats
Added
- Session Mode — Play best-of-3, 5, 7, 10, or unlimited match series. Running score displayed in the control bar. Sides alternate each game. Session summary modal shows per-game results, total time, and winner.
- Player Profiles — Create and manage player profiles stored locally. Assign named players to each clock side before starting a game. Up to 50 profiles, sorted by usage frequency.
- Head-to-Head Stats — View rivalry records between any two named players. See win/loss/draw breakdowns, results by time control, last five games, and current streaks.
- Player Picker — Tap the player name near each clock to open a picker with existing players or create new ones. Shows which player is already assigned to the other side.
- Session Summary Modal — At the end of a session, a modal displays the final score, per-game results with time controls, total elapsed time, and a winner banner.
Improved
- Settings Modal — New "Session Mode" section lets you start a match series directly from the time control screen. Shows session-in-progress indicator when a session is active.
- Game Actions — Resign, draw, and checkmate dialogs now use the actual player names when profiles are assigned.
- Control Bar — Stats button added for accessing head-to-head records. "Next Game" replaces "New Game" during active sessions. Score badge visible during play.
Sound Themes & Clock Themes
Added
- Sound Themes — Three audio themes for move taps: Classic (warm wooden click), Digital (crisp electronic tap), and Tournament (subtle mechanical click). Each theme includes start, low-time warning, and game-end sounds. Select Silent to keep haptics only.
- Clock Themes — Seven visual themes that each player can choose independently: Classic Dark, Classic Light, Walnut, Marble, Emerald, Midnight, and Rosewood. Themes persist across sessions and apply to the entire player zone.
- Low-Time Warning Sounds — A subtle tick plays each second when the active player is under 10 seconds, complementing the existing visual pulse animation.
- Game-End Sounds — Distinct sounds for win, draw, and timeout endings give an audible cue when the game is over.
Improved
- Settings Modal — Expanded with Sound Theme selector and per-player Clock Theme pickers. Horizontal swatch scrolling shows all seven themes with live colour preview.
- Pause/Resume Analytics — Fixed think time tracking across pause/resume cycles. Paused time is now correctly accumulated so move analytics are accurate even after multiple pauses.
Move Analytics & Time Pressure
Added
- Move Time Analytics — Every move is silently timestamped during play. After the game ends, tap the chart icon to see a full breakdown: per-move bar chart, average think time, longest think, and rushed move count for each player.
- Time Pressure Detection — When a player’s last 3 moves are dramatically faster than their average, a flash icon and amber indicator appear on their clock. Purely informational — it reads the tempo of the game without affecting play.
Improved
- Game History — Move timestamps are now saved alongside each game for future review. Foundation for upcoming cloud analytics.
- Post-Game UI — New analysis button alongside New Game in the finished state control bar.
Advanced Timing & Game Modes
Added
- Three Delay Modes — Fischer increment, Bronstein delay, and Simple delay. All three FIDE-recognised timing methods are now selectable per game.
- Handicap Mode — Give one player more starting time with a slider from −50% to +50%. Real-time preview of resulting times. Handicap badges shown on each clock.
- Tournament Mode — Locks controls during play to prevent accidental disruptions. Pause requires long-press with confirmation. Settings persist across sessions.
- Screen Stay Awake — Screen automatically stays on during active and paused games, turning off when the game is idle or finished.
- Delay Type Indicator — The active delay mode is displayed in the control bar alongside the time control badge (e.g., “+3s Bronstein”).
